Bump ‘n’ Jump is a vehicular combat game with an overhead perspective. Enemy vehicles include cars and trucks. Players can bump cars into obstacles or jump on them to destroy them, while trucks cannot be bumped and can only be destroyed by jumping on them. Trucks may also drop obstacles that can eliminate the player or grant an extra life. At the end of each level, players earn bonus points based on the number of enemy vehicles destroyed, and progressing through levels is marked by a change in seasons.
Players score points by bumping other cars and causing them to crash. If a level is completed without destroying any cars by bumping or jumping on them, the player receives a 50,000-point bonus. When a large obstacle, such as a body of water, approaches and must be jumped over, the game displays a flashing exclamation point as a warning.
