How to play Miner 2049er II online
- Walk and climb: arrow keys
- Jump: Space bar
- Start a new game: F12 (the console’s Reset switch)
- Save and load your progress: Ctrl + 0โ9 saves to a slot, Alt + 0โ9 loads it
It is a one-player game with no skill selection; it simply gets harder as you progress.
The three new screens
Claiming floor, the timer, the helpful items and the scoring (2 points per block of ore, 10 per item, 30 per mutant, plus the time left as a bonus) are the same as in the first cartridge. The screens are different:
- Lift: once Bob jumps on, you steer the lift with the joystick. Line it up with the floor you want, press fire, and walk off. Think about where you leave it, or you may not be able to reach the rest of the screen.
- Crusher: ride a white bar from right to left and time your jump off it. After clearing the left side, slide down and slip under the crusher without being caught, then climb the ladder on the right.
- Radioactive Waste: a flashing pool fills the bottom of the screen, and touching it is fatal. Jump onto the moving bars to reach other parts of the mine: press fire to jump up a level, or push down to drop one.
As in the first cartridge, all three screens are then played again at Level 2 without any items, so the mutants can only be jumped over.
History
Tigervision, the games label of Tiger Electronics, released the cartridge in 1983 under licence from Big Five Software, and the manual notes it was licensed together with CompuVid. It is far scarcer today than the first cartridge. It should not be confused with the unrelated Miner 2049er II announced by Micro Fun for home computers in 1984.
