Racer was the first VCS game developed by Roklan for the Atari 2600 and not based on any existing arcade game. Roklan generally did not publish games under their own name, so most people never knew they existed. While Racer is an alright game, it lacks long term playability. It was probably for this reason that Atari declined to pick up Racer.(source: AtariMania.com)
