Sky Skipper is a scrolling arcade-style game where the player controls a biplane navigating through mazes to rescue animals imprisoned by enemy gorillas. The primary objective is to drop bombs onto the gorillas, which temporarily incapacitates them and unlocks the cages holding the animals. Afterward, the player must quickly swoop down and pick up the animals before the gorillas recover and lock the cages again.
The player must avoid colliding with gorillas or walls, as such an impact destroys the plane and results in the loss of one life. A fuel gauge depletes as the plane flies, but collecting the animals replenishes the fuel supply. The game features four stages, each with increasing difficulty, and upon completion of the fourth stage, the game cycles back to the first stage with even greater challenges.
