Vong is a homebrew game inspired by the classic arcade game Pong. The primary difference is that Vong is played vertically instead of horizontally. It retains the same simple yet addictive gameplay mechanics, challenging players to bounce a ball back and forth using paddles, with the objective of scoring points by getting the ball past the opponent’s paddle.
Vong features six gameplay modes, including two hidden modes. The standard modes are:
- Game 1 – Single Player: In this mode, one player competes against an AI-controlled paddle.
- Game 2 – Two Player: In this mode, two players compete against each other, each controlling their own paddle.
Additionally, Vong offers two difficulty settings that can be adjusted using the left difficulty switch on the Atari console:
- Left Difficulty A – Small Paddles: This setting makes the paddles smaller, increasing the challenge for players.
- Left Difficulty B – Large Paddles: This setting makes the paddles larger, making it easier for players to hit the ball.
The hidden modes can be accessed using specific button combinations or other actions within the game. These hidden modes may provide variations in gameplay, such as different paddle shapes or altered ball physics.
Vong offers a fresh perspective on the classic Pong game, providing new challenges and variations for fans of the original.
