About Atari 2600 G.I. Joe: Cobra Strike

G.I. Joe: Cobra Strike is a 1983 video game for the Atari 2600, designed by John Emerson. Based on the popular G.I. Joe franchise, the game was the first licensed G.I. Joe video game ever released. In the UK, it was renamed Action Man: Action Force. The game features different modes of play, including single-player, two-player cooperative, and two-player competitive modes.

In single-player mode, the player controls a G.I. Joe training camp located at the bottom of the screen. The camp is protected by a barrier and equipped with two laser cannons. The objective is to prevent a giant Cobra-operated robot snake from destroying the camp’s shield by hitting it eight times. The Cobra robot attacks with venom and laser beams.

In the two-player cooperative mode, control of the G.I. Joe training camp is shared between two players as they collaborate to defeat the Cobra robot.

In the two-player competitive mode, one player takes control of the Cobra robot, while the other player controls the G.I. Joe training camp. The players compete against each other, with the Cobra robot trying to destroy the camp’s shield and the G.I. Joe player attempting to defend it.
