MegaBoy

MegaBoy is an educational quiz cartridge from the Brazilian company Dynacom. It came packed with Dynacom's handheld system, also called MegaBoy. At 64K it is unusually large for the Atari 2600, where most games used 4K or 8K. You can try it here in your browser.

How to play MegaBoy online

Despite being a learning program, MegaBoy is listed as a joystick game, so you do not need a keypad or keyboard controller. The emulator also recognises its unusual 64K format on its own; Javatari even names this memory layout after the cartridge.

  • Move and choose: arrow keys
  • Confirm: Space bar
  • Restart: F12 (the console’s Reset switch)

What it is

MegaBoy is a quiz program rather than an action game. It was made for Brazil, where Dynacom also sold Atari-compatible consoles such as the Dynavision. Very little else is documented about it, including its exact release year, so it is best treated as a curiosity: a Brazilian learning cartridge that shows how far cartridge sizes grew beyond the console’s original 2K and 4K games.
