Secret Agent is an unreleased prototype game for the Atari 2600, developed by Data Age. In 2001, Atari2600.com produced a limited run of 50 cartridges with Data Age-style labels and a one-page manual, which were sold at the 2001 Classic Gaming Expo.
The game’s premise revolves around the player taking on the role of a secret agent who is tasked with catching important falling items, such as U.S. documents, money cases, and money bags. Players must be cautious and avoid undesirables like bugs, grenades, and guns that also fall from the sky.
At a certain point during gameplay, a tone will sound, signaling that the boats on the water below will stop moving. The player must then position their secret agent above the stationary boats to ‘make the hand off’. However, players need to remain vigilant as the falling items continue to drop, even when the boats have stopped.
In two-player games, the players take turns as the secret agent. The game offers a unique and challenging experience, requiring quick reflexes and strategic thinking to successfully complete the hand off and avoid the dangerous falling objects.
