Gremlins is an Atari 2600 game based on the 1984 movie of the same name. The game features two playable screens and can be played by one player or two players taking turns. The game’s objective is to help the protagonist, Billy Peltzer, prevent the Mogwai from transforming into destructive Gremlins.
The first screen resembles the 1981 game Kaboom!. In this stage, the player controls Billy, who runs side-to-side across the screen, catching falling Mogwai to prevent them from eating hamburgers. If the Mogwai eat the hamburgers, they transform into Gremlins, making the game more challenging.
The second screen is reminiscent of Space Invaders. In this stage, the player moves Billy back and forth across the screen, shooting waves of descending Gremlins. The player must eliminate all the Gremlins to advance in the game.
Gremlins combines elements of classic arcade games, presenting players with a unique and challenging experience that combines quick reflexes, strategy, and timing to overcome the ever-growing threat of the Gremlins.
