Laser Gates is a game for the Atari 2600 that puts players in control of the Dante Dart, a spaceship tasked with navigating through the caverns of the Cryptic Computer. The Cryptic Computer is the galactic defense synthesizer responsible for maintaining peace for centuries since the Wars on Zevon. However, it has malfunctioned, and the four Failsafe Detonators within it are set to initiate universal self-destruct.
Players must guide the Dante Dart through the computer’s perilous defenses, which include Forcefields, Densepack Columns, Radar Mortars, Rock Munchers, Homing Missiles, and Byte Bats. The objective of the game is to avoid collisions with the jagged walls, destroy the various obstacles and enemies, and ultimately reach and destroy each of the four Failsafe Detonators to save the universe.
Laser Gates is an action-packed game that challenges players’ reflexes, timing, and decision-making skills as they navigate through the dangerous Cryptic Computer on a mission to save the thousand galaxies from imminent destruction.
