Oystron is an action-packed game for the Atari 2600, where the player controls a ship and battles against various enemies, including space oysters. The main objective is to collect pearls dropped by space oysters and deposit them in the “pearl zone” on the left side of the screen. Players must also defend the pearls from other enemies that try to steal them. Collecting eight pearls rewards the player with a bomb.
At the end of each level, a boss named “Oystron” appears. The player can defeat Oystron either by placing a bomb in its path or by waiting until it transforms into a space oyster. Once the Oystron is defeated, the player enters a warp phase, where the ship travels at high speed, and the objective is to avoid collisions with enemies.
Players start with four ships and can earn an additional ship for every 4000 points scored. Oystron offers a challenging and engaging gaming experience that tests the player’s reflexes, strategy, and quick thinking as they battle enemies and collect valuable pearls.
