Publisher: XYPE

XYPE is a group of Atari 2600 homebrew developers that released new games on cartridge decades after the console’s commercial life ended. Its catalogue covers ports of computer classics, original games and early work from the hobbyist scene. The site has five XYPE releases:

Oystron: Piero Cavina’s space shooter, first released free in 1997 as one of the earliest 2600 homebrews.
Thrust (2000): Thomas Jentzsch’s version of the BBC Micro gravity game.
Qb (2001): Andrew Davie’s block-pushing puzzle game, first written for the Atari 800.
Seawolf (2004): Manuel Rotschkar’s submarine game, named Homebrew of the Year in Stan’s Atari Excellence Awards.
Climber 5: Dennis Debro’s port of a 1987 COMPUTE! type-in game.

Oystron and Climber 5 were later chosen for the Game Boy Advance version of Activision Anthology. Play any of them below in your browser.
