Space War is a video game cartridge launched by Atari in 1978 for the Atari 2600. It is an adaptation of Spacewar!, originally developed in 1962 for the PDP-1 platform by Stephen Russell, Peter Samson, Dan Edwards, Martin Graetz, Alan Kotok, Steve Piner, and Robert A Saunders. The cartridge features 17 game variations, with variations 1-13 being two-player duels and 14-17 designed for single players. In certain variations, the ships battle in proximity to a planet with gravitational pull. (Sears title is Space Combat).
