Developer: Ian Shepard

Ian Shepard programmed Space War, one of the earliest Atari 2600 cartridges, released in October 1978. It is a home version of Spacewar!, the 1962 computer game written on a PDP-1 at MIT, in which two spaceships circle and try to shoot each other down. Atari’s version added shuttle docking games, so solo players have something to do as well. Sears sold the same cartridge as Space Combat.
