About Atari 2600 The Entity

The Entity is an unreleased action game for the Atari 2600, developed by programmer Mark Klein and based on the horror movie of the same name. The game’s objective is to move the Entity to the highest plane of existence before running out of energy.

The game features several rows, or planes of existence, similar to the game Taz. However, in The Entity, only three rows are visible on the screen at a time. Portals (holes) are located between each row, and the player must force the Entity through these portals. This is achieved by strategically placing walls.

Players move the walls by pressing the joystick left and right. When a wall lines up with a portal, it will “lock” into place, leaving the bouncing Entity with no choice but to move upward to the next row. The challenge lies in positioning the walls correctly and efficiently to guide the Entity to the highest plane of existence within the given energy limit.
