The Year 1999

The Year 1999 is a PAL cartridge from Rainbow Vision (Suntek), model SS-008, sold in Australia. It is not an original game: emulator databases identify it as Ultravision's shooter Condor Attack under a new name, like several other Rainbow Vision titles. You can play it here in your browser.

About Atari 2600 The Year 1999

How to play The Year 1999 online

  • Bring your base onto the screen: up arrow
  • Move left and right: left and right arrow keys
  • Fire: Space bar
  • Choose a game: F11 (the console’s Select switch)
  • Base size (A = large, B = small): F4 and F9 (the difficulty switches)
  • Start a new game: F12 (the console’s Reset switch)

Gameplay

You defend a lone firebase at the bottom of the screen against giant birds that swoop and drop bombs. The Condor Attack manual says the Select switch also lets you face spiders or bats instead. Attackers get faster and change their patterns as you progress, sometimes vanishing off one side and reappearing on the other. You start with six bases and earn another at every 1,000 points, up to nine extra. A small base is easier to move out of the way of bombs.

K-Tel Vision sold the same game as Vulture Attack.
