Atari 2600 Ice Hockey offers a two-on-two ice hockey experience. Each team consists of a goalie and an offensive player, though the goalie is not restricted to the goal area. Similar to the actual sport, the goal is to gain possession of the puck and shoot it into the opponent’s goal to score points. When a player has control of the puck, it moves left and right along the hockey stick’s blade. The puck can be shot at any of the 32 angles, depending on its position at the time of the shot.
In the game, human players control the skater who either has possession of the puck or is closest to it. The puck can be stolen from the player holding it, and shots can be blocked using the hockey stick’s blade.
