Mean Santa (NTSC)

Mean Santa (NTSC) is the North American build of Mean Santa, a 2009 Atari 2600 homebrew in which Santa does the opposite of his usual job: he lands on rooftops, climbs down the chimney and takes everything in the house. Tim Duarte of the fan newsletter 2600 Connection designed it, John K. Harvey programmed it, and the newsletter released it on cartridge. You can play it here in your browser.

How to play Mean Santa online

  • Fly the sleigh and move Santa: arrow keys
  • Choose Easy, Medium or Hard: F11 (Select)
  • Start a new game: F12 (Reset)

Each house starts with a landing on the roof, away from the chimney and the snowflakes. Inside, you grab every item, and the chimney opens as your exit only when the room is empty. There are no points: a hidden clock times your run, so the aim is to finish faster.

NTSC or PAL?

The game was made in two builds: NTSC for North American televisions and PAL for European ones. The gameplay is the same, and both run fine in the emulator. The full guide, with the hidden modes, tips and the story of how the game was made, is on the Mean Santa (PAL) page.
