In 1982, 20th Century Fox developed and published Mega Force, a 2D side-scrolling shooter game for the Atari 2600. The game’s inspiration is derived from a movie with the same name, which was also released at the same time as the game. Northshore Investments, Ltd. owns the trademark for MegaForce, while the game’s copyright belongs to Fox Video Games, Inc. and Northshore Investments, Ltd.
Although Mega Force is a clone of other shooters, it was primarily influenced by the Atari 2600 version of Defender, which was released in 1981.
