Play ▸Christopher Omarzu was a programmer at Atari in 1983. All three of his games on the site are unusual cartridges rather than standard shop releases.
Pepsi Invaders is a promotional version of Space Invaders that Coca-Cola ordered as a gift for its salespeople. The original programmer, Rick Maurer, had already left Atari, so Omarzu adapted the existing code: the invaders spell out the rival’s name, and only 125 copies were made. The other two are Sesame Street games from Atari’s series with the Children’s Computer Workshop. In Big Bird’s Egg Catch Big Bird catches eggs rolling down chutes, and in Oscar’s Trash Race, which Omarzu programmed with Bruce Williams, children count pieces of trash and send the matching grouch to collect them. Both were made for the Kid’s Controller keypad, which the emulator here does not support, so you can look at them but not really play them.
Pepsi Invaders plays normally, and you can try it in your browser below.
