Farmyard Fun

Farmyard Fun is a little-known single-player Atari 2600 game from Taiwan, played with a joystick. AtariMania files it as a "collect'em" arcade game. Nobody has published who programmed it, and no manual has turned up, so most of what is known is about the cartridges it was sold on. You can play it here in your browser and find out how it plays for yourself.

One game, many farmyards

Farmyard Fun came out in more than one form. AtariMania lists an NTSC cartridge from the Taiwanese TP-6xx series, serial TP-617, and a 1983 PAL release by Suntek for Europe, serial SS-034. AtariAge also records a European cartridge from Ariola.

The same game was sold under other names too. In Germany the mail-order company Quelle sold it as Tom’s Eierjagd (“Tom’s egg hunt”) in 1983. Home Vision advertised versions called Pumuckl at the Farm House and Play Farm, named after Pumuckl, a character from a German children’s cartoon, but no copy of either has ever been found. A release called Home Sweet Home, from a company named Show Game, is also listed, though its ROM has not been preserved.
