Sky Alien

Sky Alien is a European PAL release of a fixed-screen space shooter that the company Bomb published as Assault. Sky Alien came out on the Home Vision label, a Belgian brand that the company VDI used to sell Atari 2600 games made by the Taiwanese firm Gem International Corporation. The game was sold under a long list of other names too, including Space Raider, Laser Loop, Fire Birds and Invasion der UFO's. It is sometimes described as a Space Invaders clone, but it plays more like Demon Attack. You can play it here in your browser.

How to play Sky Alien online

  • Move and aim: arrow keys
  • Fire: Space bar
  • Start a new game: F12 (the console’s Reset switch)
  • Save and load your progress: Ctrl + 0–9 saves to a slot, Alt + 0–9 loads it

Gameplay

An alien mother ship hovers near the top of the screen and keeps sending out three smaller craft. Together they fire down at your weapon at the bottom of the screen. You can shoot straight up, and also to the left and right, which helps against the small ships when they drop low. Every enemy shot that reaches the ground damages your weapon, and too many hits destroy it. It is a one-player game.
