Space Jockey is a horizontal scrolling shooter for the Atari 2600. In the game, the player controls an “attack saucer” that flies to the right over scrolling, undulating terrain. The saucer moves only vertically and stops just before hitting the ground. The objective is to shoot ground-based tanks and various flying enemies, such as jet planes, propeller planes, helicopters, and hot air balloons. Trees and houses also appear on the ground as obstacles, which can be destroyed as well.
