Worm War I is a game released for the Atari 2600 in 1982 by 20th Century Fox. It is a hybrid of a fixed shooter and a vertically-scrolling game. In the game, the player controls a tank that can move horizontally and vertically, shooting at giant worms and other obstacles that move down the screen. The game is divided into 99 waves, with each wave featuring an increasing number of worms, starting with one and ending with six. When all the worms are defeated, a new set spawns at the top of the screen. The player can also shoot the pagoda to clear all the worms or ram into it to receive a fuel bonus. The game continues until the player runs out of fuel or loses all their lives.
