Release date: 1989

1989 was one of the last busy years for the Atari 2600. Secret Quest, released in May, carries Atari founder Nolan Bushnell’s name and photo on its box. It was developed by his company Axlon, and flicking the TV type switch brings up your items and a code for continuing later. Activision’s Rampage came out the same month, and Double Dragon followed in the autumn.
Atari Corporation added Doug Neubauer’s air combat game Radar Lock, built on his Solaris engine, the two-on-two basketball of Double Dunk and the Breakout-style Off the Wall. BMX Airmaster from TNT Games and Night Stalker, a late PAL reissue of M Network’s Dark Cavern, complete the page.
