Nuts (PAL)

Nuts is a simple shooting game from TechnoVision, a label of the Hong Kong company Video Technology (VTech), released in Europe in 1983. You play a squirrel whose winter food store has been stolen, and you throw at the thieves in the branches above to win it back. This page runs the PAL version, which is the original release: TechnoVision sold Nuts only in Europe. You can play it here in your browser.

PAL and NTSC versions

The cartridge, catalogue number TVS 1001, was made for the European PAL TV standard (50 Hz) and was never sold in North America. The site also has an NTSC version that runs at the American 60 Hz standard. The full description of the game, its story and its history is on the Nuts (NTSC) page. It is the same game either way, so pick whichever looks and plays better for you.

The British magazine TV Gamer reviewed Nuts in winter 1983, listed it as a children’s game and compared it to Space Invaders with different graphics. No instruction manual has been documented, so the scoring and the variations are not known.
