Sea Monster – O Monstro Marinho

Sea Monster – O Monstro Marinho is the Brazilian release of Sea Monster, a simple shooting game made by the Taiwanese company Bit Corporation. It was sold in Brazil by CCE, a company that put out many 2600 games there under Portuguese titles. It is not a prototype: it is a finished cartridge with a translated name. You command a ship on the surface and drop depth charges on the creatures below. You can play it here in your browser.

How to play Sea Monster – O Monstro Marinho online

  • Move your ship: left and right arrow keys
  • Drop a depth charge: Space bar
  • Start a new game: F12 (the console’s Reset switch)
  • Choose a game variation: F11 (the console’s Select switch)
  • Save and load your progress: Ctrl + 0–9 saves to a slot, Alt + 0–9 loads it

The game is the same as Sea Monster. Rows of sea monsters swim back and forth under your ship, deeper monsters are worth more, and they fire back at you, so you have to keep moving. One or two people can play. The Sea Monster page has more on the gameplay and some tips.

Other versions on this site

Besides this Brazilian release, you can play the European PAL cartridge as Sea Monster and the version for American-standard televisions as Sea Monster (NTSC). If the speed or colours look wrong in one, try another.
