Walker

Walker is a little-known Atari 2600 cartridge released in 1983 by Suntek for PAL televisions. The same game was sold in Germany by the retailer Quelle as Schussel, der Polizistenschreck (roughly "Schussel, terror of the police"), and a third release called Guignol is known to exist, but no copy has turned up for preservation yet. The version on this page is the European Walker / Schussel cartridge. You can play it here in your browser.

What the game is like

We have not found the original instructions, so the exact rules and scoring are unknown. Screenshots show a small figure on a pavement at the bottom of the screen, with policemen walking along it. Above them, the scenery changes from city streets full of traffic to countryside with trees, houses and animals. As the German title suggests, keeping out of the policemen’s way seems to be the point.
