Squish ‘Em (NTSC)

This is the NTSC version of Squish 'Em, Bob Montgomery's 2007 Atari 2600 homebrew conversion of the 1983 Atari 8-bit climbing game from Sirius Software. You climb tall, unfinished buildings floor by floor to reach a case of money at the top, dodging falling bricks and the creatures that patrol the girders. You can play it here in your browser.

The NTSC build was made for American-style televisions and uses NTSC colours. There is also a PAL60 build for European TVs, and the gameplay is the same in both. For the full guide, with gameplay, tips and the game’s background, see the PAL60 version of Squish ‘Em.

How to play Squish ‘Em online

  • Move and climb: arrow keys
  • Jump: Space bar
  • Start a new game: F12 (the console’s Reset switch)

You can jump over the critters or land on them to squish them, but each one can only be squished once. After that it turns white and can no longer be stopped, so pick your moment carefully. Once you climb a floor, you can’t go back down.
