Stone Age

Stone Age is one of the least documented Atari 2600 cartridges. Very little is known about who made it or when. The only cartridge collectors have confirmed was sold in Brazil by CCE, a company that released many 2600 games there in the 1980s. You can try it here in your browser and see it for yourself.

How to play Stone Age online

Emulator databases note that this cartridge reads the joystick from the second controller port instead of the first. If the arrow keys do nothing, use the Player 2 controls instead.

  • Joystick (Player 2 port): T, F, G, H for up, left, down, right
  • Fire button (Player 2 port): A
  • Start a new game: F12 (the console’s Reset switch)
  • Save and load your progress: Ctrl + 0–9 saves to a slot, Alt + 0–9 loads it

What is known

Stone Age is not known to be a renamed copy of a better-known game, which was common for cartridges from this period. Besides the Brazilian CCE release, a version was planned by TechnoVision, a Hong Kong brand that sold a handful of 2600 games in Europe in 1983, but that edition appears never to have come out. No instruction manual or box has been documented, so the rules, scoring and variations are unknown.
